If you’re living in Ireland and haven’t heard of the O’Donovan brothers, we can only assume that you’ve been living under a rock. Gary and Paul are the silver medalist brothers who have been taking Rio by storm. Their stellar silver medal performance in the lightweight men’s double sculls was Ireland’s first medal of the Rio Olympics and our first rowing medal in the history of the Olympics.
They may have won the silver in the race but their interviews while in Rio have won them gold. The whole world has fallen in love with their humour, laid back attitude and hilariously funny remarks. Here are all the side-splitting interviews in one place (plus one of their mum celebrating because she definitely deserves a mention!)
“It isn’t too complex really. A to B as fast as you can go and hope for the best. Close the eyes and pull like a dog.” Paul says as he describes his race strategy the day before the final.
